Kayak Fun

Kayaking is a fun sport although it comes with its own brand of dangers and adventure. If you want to feel the need for a rush of adrenalin and are looking forward to a close shave with the mighty rapids then this sport offers plenty. One of the most amazing part of kayaking is the Kayak Roll. But before you can do the kayak roll, you need to have a pretty good and sturdy kayak. You can find one at the Coleman Kayak. You can find a which is one of the perfect rides for training purposes and for taking a shot at the class IV rapids with your friend. Once you have a kayak, you can practice the Kayak Roll.

The kayak roll is not just something that you do for fun, it is serious business. The kayak roll can actually save your life by helping you recover from a capsized kayak. Of course the fun element is always there especially if you practice it in still waters. Initially it can be quite frustrating as it takes a lot of skill and strength to get the inflatable kayak back from a capsized position. If you keep working on your kayak roll then it will also help you to maintain balance and kayak control.

The Difficulty level is normally treated as average and the time required to learn will be 20 minutes a day. That’s all you need! The best way of learning kayak roll is with a kayaking instructor who can help you with the motion. The best part is that you get to do it under supervision and in the safety of a swimming pool or a placid lake. Your kayaking instructor will stand in waist deep water to support your head and body at the water level. With his support, you can practice rotating the kayak through a full range or half range of motion.

It is not easy to get acquainted with the body's position while the kayak is in a roll. You have to take the help of your trainer or friends who can stand behind your kayak cockpit holding your body out on the side so that your head can remain just above the water surface. You can practice rotating the inflatable kayaks through a 90 degree turn and then slowly graduate to a full 180 degree turn. You need to curve your body to the surface to wind up. Your left knee will pull your head up towards the surface.

You will have to follow through by slowly pressing your right ear toward your shoulder and then you can tug your right knee. Your left knee will automatically relax without touching the kayak deck. Remember at this point you shouldn’t have any pressure on the kayaks foot-pegs. If you hang onto the kayak with both the left and the right knee, then you will defeat the entire purpose and the motion will get strained.

Once you have learnt the roll, it can be quite a fun!
